The Karnataka State Open University established on 1st June 1996 vide Karnataka Govt. Notification No. EDI/UOV/95 dated 12th February 1996 - KSOU Act 1992 is considered to be a reputed Open University amongst the open learning institutions in the country. The Guru Jambheshwar University Science & Technology, Hisar was established by an Act of Legislation of Haryana State on October 20th, 1995 to facilitate and promote studies and research in emerging areas of higher education. It is named after Guru Jambheshwar, a saint, environmentalist of 15th century. The University has grown to its full size and stature within a short span of 8 years.
